Aspen, Colorado and the surrounding areas some of the most beautiful backcountry skiing areas in Colorado. Many adventurers love to take a few days to have a backcountry adventure and then settle into exciting scene at Aspen, Colorado.

The 10th Mountain Division Hut Association is one of the major backcountry trail networks in the Aspen, Colorado area and system of 29 backcountry huts in the Colorado Rockies. There are 350 miles of suggested routes. The huts are very popular, and there is a lottery system in place for many winter weekends; call to inquire about availability.  The huts are only open in the winter, but some of the trails are open in the summer for hiking and mountain biking.

Backcountry skiing can be a beautiful and exciting experience, but it can also be very dangerous if one is unfamiliar with terrain; many areas of the Aspen, Colorado backcountry are avalanche prone. Hiring a backcountry guide is highly recommended to make this experience a safe and happy one.
