Aspen, Colorado is located in the middle of Colorado, nestled in the Rocky Mountains. Aspen, Colorado is about 200 miles from Denver, Colorado, and doesn’t make for a bad drive at all. Driving is possible in the winter and the summer. Flying is also an option, either into Denver or into Aspen’s Sandy Field Airport. Aspen’s Sandy Field Airport is just 3 miles from the city and is serviced with regular flights from a few major cities. Be wary during major holidays, though; it’s not unheard of for up to 150 private jets to be queued up to fly out just after peak times, making getting in or out a big mess. Flights are also available into Denver International Airport. Aspen is about 3 to 4 hours from Denver on I-70 West.

Getting to Aspen, Colorado by car is simple – even in the winter, though you may want to make sure you have snow chains.

 

From Denver, CO to Aspen, CO: take I-70 West to Glenwood Springs, CO then Highway 82 into Aspen, CO. It’s a 3-4 hour drive.

 

From Grand Junction, CO to Aspen, CO: take I-70 East to Highway 82 to Aspen, CO. It’s a 2-3 hour drive.
